Dress Code Policy


The following is the Standardized Dress Code Policy as set forth by the Sumner County Board of Education:

The following shall not be worn to school:

Ø      Shorts

Ø      Saggy/sagging pants (no flesh or under garments should be visible between shirt/top and pants/skirt)

Ø      Spandex

Ø      Holes in clothes

Ø      Suggestive slogans, vulgar captions, pictures or advertisements for tobacco or alcoholic products on clothes

Ø      Head dress for boys or girls

Ø      Form fitting or body conforming clothes

Ø      Bare midriff, halters, fishnet, sheer (see through) material, or tank tops

Ø      Tops with shoulder straps less than 2” wide (no under garments should be visible)

Ø      Shoes with cleats

Ø      Clothing or articles related to gangs

Ø      Extreme hair color

In addition the following guidelines shall be enforced:

Ø      Leggings only with standard length dress/skirt

Ø      Skirt length or slits in skirts must not be higher than 3 inches from the bend in back of the knee

Ø      Pants length must not drag the floor

Ø      Proper undergarments should be worn

Ø      No pajamas (tops or bottoms) or house shoes

Ø      No tinted glasses/sunglasses unless doctor prescribed

Ø      No body piercing jewelry except earrings may be worn during school hours

Ø      Jewelry must not be distracting, disruptive, or unsafe

Ø      Valuable clothing and jewelry are discouraged

Ø      NO Pagers, Tape/CD players, Radios, Headphones/Sets, Cards, Cell Phones

Penalties:

Ø      Change or go home

Ø      Zero in class missed

Ø      Unexcused absence

Ø      Could include suspension

BECAUSE OF ITS POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGE TO SCHOOL PROPERTY, CHEWING GUM IS NOT ALLOWED.
