The Flu

Flu season is right around the corner. Here are the 3 most important things to reduce your chance of contracting the flu.

  1. Vaccinate: the flu vaccine can prevent the flu or reduce the severity of the flu if you do get it.
  2. Take daily preventative measures: avoid contact with sick people, stay home if you are sick, cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, wash your hands often with soap  and water, do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth, and clean and disinfect surfaces.
  3. Take flu antiviral drugs if prescribed by your doctor: these medications may make the illness milder and shorten sick time, they need to be started within 2 days of getting sick.
