Flu season is right around the corner. Here are the 3 most important things to reduce your chance of contracting the flu.
- Vaccinate: the flu vaccine can prevent the flu or reduce the severity of the flu if you do get it.
- Take daily preventative measures: avoid contact with sick people, stay home if you are sick, cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, wash your hands often with soap and water, do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth, and clean and disinfect surfaces.
- Take flu antiviral drugs if prescribed by your doctor: these medications may make the illness milder and shorten sick time, they need to be started within 2 days of getting sick.
